The mighty Manchester United fell once again after a life less display in the retun tie of the Capital One Cup semi final. A first half goal by Jonny Evans took the game into extra time. In the 118th minute, De Gea’s howler gave Sunderland an equaliser. In a thrilling finish to the game, Javier Hernandez scored with the last kick of the game to take it to penalties.
Both teams were disastrous in the shootout. Welbeck, Rafael, Januzaj and Jones missed the target, to hand Sunderland a 2-1 win in the shootout, and a place in the Capital One Cup final.
