Video: Mats Hummels does it again - saves an unstoppable shot with his head

Mats Hummels saves Castro’s shot with his head

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels produced a great clearance off the line as they played out a goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Facing Leverkusen in their first match after the winter break, Dortmund had to work very hard to keep the scores level. Hummels ran back on a Bayer counter to help provide cover for his team, as he then proceeded to dive and head Castro’s shot away from the goal and behind for a corner.

Despite the match finishing as a draw, Borussia Dortmund now sit at the bottom of the table in Bundesliga, as all the other teams around them got better results. The weekend also saw league leaders Bayern Munich suffer a heavy loss to Wolfsburg.

This is not the first time Hummels has pulled off a clearance like this. In a match against Hoffenheim earlier this season, the defender broke away from the Dortmund wall to run back and head a dipping free-kick behind for a corner.

Both these incidents prove that the German is one of the best defenders in the world and that his focus and concentration are second to none.
