Vincent Kompany flies in Belgian physio to save season

Manchester City v Watford - FA Cup Third Round

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany is flying in physiotherapist Lieven Maesschalck from back home after his latest injury setback, which threatens to ruin his season.

Following the injury to his left calf muscle since Manchester City’s 1-0 FA cup victory against Stoke, captain Vincent Kompany has missed out on the last five games.

Although he was expected to be back by now, his recovery and comeback suffered a delay due to a new problem in his right calf.

Maesschalck flew in to Manchester from Belgium to spend a week with Kompany and get him back to playing as soon as humanly possible, with boss Roberto Mancini desperate to have him back to help City climb up the ladder than fall off it.

Lieven has previously rendered his services to the likes of Andriy Schevchenko and Real Madrid’s Kaka, aside from having worked with the Belgium national team.
