What's the story?

Vinicius Junior announced his arrival in the UEFA Champions League with a brilliant run to lay on a goal for Karim Benzema in the game against Ajax on Wednesday.

In case you didn't know...

Many eyebrows were raised when Real Madrid paid a whopping £40 million to sign the 18-year-old from Flamengo during the summer of 2018. It was a tall ask for the youngster to fill the shoes of Cristiano Ronaldo and he struggled to get minutes under Julen Lopetegui.

However, things changed when Lopetegui was sacked and Santiago Solari was appointed. Vinicius became a regular in the team and started to impress the Santiago Bernabeu crowd. The youngster already scored four times for Real Madrid and also provided nine assists.

The heart of the matter

The 18-year-old was phenomenal for Real Madrid in the last few weeks and has been a regular starter under Solari. He has troubled the opponents with his pace and skill, and produced some scintillating performances in La Liga and Copa del Rey.

On Wednesday against Ajax, Vinicius Junior just showed why he is one of the best young talents in the world. The Brazilian picked up a long ball on the left wing and cut inside to beat two Ajax defenders to assist Karim Benzema for Real Madrid's opener. It was a great run by the youngster, who was unstoppable once he had the ball at his feet.
