Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney expressed his gratitude to the Manchester United faithful for their “unbelievable reaction” towards him in the no-goal draw with Chelsea on Monday.
The England International was back in the starting line-up at Old Trafford to face the club that he has been heavily linked with throughout the transfer window.
The 27-year-old was benched for the starting game over Swansea, but was given a rousing welcome by the United supporters on Monday evening.
He uploaded some pictures from the match on his Facebook page and also wrote: “Here’s some pictures from Monday night’s game.
“It was an unbelievable reaction from the fans, so thank you. I really appreciate your support. It means a lot.”
It looks highly unlikely now that Rooney will try and force a move to Chelsea by handing in a transfer request before the window shuts on Monday.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has had two bids for the forward turned down, and after the game, he urged Rooney to make a firm decision on his future.
