Arsene Wenger is finally spending some money ; well is even thinking of it as they have launched a surprise assault at Belgian Romelu Lukaku.
Currently on pre-season duty in the far east Wenger has reportedly arranged a meeting with Lukaku’s agent Christophe Hentoray.Chelsea were on pole position to sign him from Anderlecht but new manager Villas-Boas has cooled off any speculation.
£14M is claimed to be Arsenal‘s initial approach,short of Anderlecht’s valuation of £18 M.
6ft 3in Lukaku has an incredible scoring record for Anderlecht in the Belgian league,though hasn’t made his mark in EuropaLeague games.The Anderlecht striker has been capped 9 times for Belgium.His powerful presence is something Arsenal have lacked and Wenger’s search for strength may have prompted interest in Lukaku.
His contract invoves a 25% pay off to his father of any transfer fee.Roger Lukau was a former professional footballer for Belgium and Congo.
