West Ham chase Lukaku

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku is being targeted by West Ham United. The West Bromwich Albion striker, on loan from Chelsea, has been impressive this season scoring 17 goals, including a hat-trick against champions Manchester United.

Dubbed “the next Drogba”, Lukaku was signed for around £10 million from Belgian club Anderlecht in 2011. But it was a tough introduction to to the Premier League for the youngster as he was able to make only 8 appearances and failed to score even once in his first season in England. He refused to lift the Champions league trophy at the end of the season as ‘he didnt feel like a winner’.

He was loaned out to West Brom at the start of the 2012-13 season, and with Chelsea linked with the likes of Falcao and Lewandowski, Lukaku is expected to be loaned out again next season with Upton Park being one of his likely destinations.

West Ham co-owner Dave Sullivan is believed to be a great admirer of powerful striker. He said “Lukaku would be a loan again. We’d maybe buy him a year later if Chelsea decide they don’t want him.”

They are also set to sign Liverpool striker Andy Carroll on a permanent basis for £15 million.

Sullivan added “If we sign Andy, it would be a record signing for the club. He and Romelu would be devastating. The best strike-force outside of the top six or seven.”

Sullivan is hoping that a chance to stay in London will be enough to lure him to Upton Park. “Lukaku has been amazing for West Brom this season and I’d hope that he would prefer to live in London.”
