Wayne Rooney gets ‘knocked out’ after scoring against Tottenham

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney did a ‘weird’ goal celebration after scoring the third goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the first half in a Premier League side between the two sides. After Marouane Fellaini’s opening goal and Michael Carrick’s header which doubled United’s lead, Rooney completed the treble with a well-taken goal.

However, the talking point would be the Englishman’s celebration where he made a mockery of a recent story that had propped up in the media about him getting knocked out while boxing with Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley. Bardsley’s wife, Tanya Bardsley, clarified on Twitter that it was a joke between the two former teammates and it was a ‘fake knockout’.

Ahead of the match, there were rumours that Rooney would celebrate with a knockout celebration and he duly delivered after ‘knocking out’ Spurs with the crucial third goal in the first half.
