Real Madrid players had a disappointing game

Keylor Navas – 6

The Costa Rican goalkeeper could have done little to save the two goals from his position and should be blaming his defence for the second goal. The penalty was a fierce strike from Rodriguez which was unstoppable. However, the Madrid number one did well to make several saves throughout the game to keep the game at 2-0.

Danilo – 4

The Brazilian full-back was probably the worst player on the pitch for Real Madrid. He was easily beaten by Draxler throughout the game and struggled to get going in the game. He was poor in defence and failed to contribute in attack as well.

Pepe – 5

The Portuguese defender struggled in the first half to keep up with the pace of Schurrle and Draxler. He looked to be on the backfoot on numerous occasions and was not comfortable on the ball. He left far too much space behind him in the Real box and was nervy. But pulled up his socks a bit in the second half.

Sergio Ramos – 4

The worst performance from the Spanish defender in recent times. He had an awful game at the back, never comfortable with the ball at his feet. Just like his partner Pepe, he gave too much space to the hosts, who managed to make the most of their opportunities. Ramos seemed to have never got into the game, and did not keep his eyes on the Wolfsburg frontline.

Marcelo – 4

The Brazilian left-back was all over the place against Wolfsburg. He was poor and could not keep Henrique quiet, as his countryman exploited the space left by him. His positioning was very poor and lacked the precision we normally see from him.

Casemiro – 5

The Brazilian was very poor at the heart of defence for Real Madrid. He could not protect his back four as he did against Barcelona and gave away far too much space for the Wolfsburg frontline to take advantage of. He was poor in breaking up the play and gave away the penalty that led to the first goal.

Luka Modric – 4

The Croatian could not find much space in the middle of the park to deliver anything for his forward line. He was not helped by Kroos whenever under pressure and was taken off after the hour mark by Zidane.

Toni Kroos – 5

The German midfielder looked comfortable on the ball, but did not help out his teammates in tough situations. He also failed to find the perfect final pass for his teammates.

Gareth Bale – 6

The Welsh international was Real’s ray of hope as he played some good football and carried his form from the previous game against Barcelona. He was, however, not at his best throughout the game but looked like the only player who started most of the Real Madrid’s attacks.

Karim Benzema – 4

The French striker had an awful game yet again up front. He missed a very good opoortunity to score in the first half as his shot went wide after he was left one-on-one against Benaglio. He struggled against Dante and Naldo and was taken off before half-time due to an injury.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 5

The former world player of the year did not have the best of games. He was unable to create chances throughout the game and was also not able to collect Bale’s crosses properly. He started the game on the left wing, then shifted onto the right and then in the middle, but nothing worked for him as he was closed down well by the Wolfsburg defenders.

Substitutes

Jese Rodriguez – 4

The striker replaced Benzema before the half-time break and looked far from his best.

Isco – 5

The Spanish midfielder was one of the bright players for Madrid after coming on to replace Modric. He created some chances but his teammates were not up to the mark to make the most of them.

James Rodriguez – NA

Came on for Toni Kroos in the 85th minute.
