#3 Leroy Sane produces another insipid outing

Leroy Sane was unimpressive for Bayern Munich.
Leroy Sane was unimpressive for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane returned to the Bundesliga with plenty of fanfare last summer. But after a promising start to his campaign, he now runs the risk of becoming a disappointment.

The 24-year old was guilty of missing some good chances in the game. Even though his wastefulness didn't impact the result, Sane could've polished the scoreline further.

Sane's work rate was commendable, playing a crucial role in helping Bayern Munich push forward. But when he was at the receiving end of service from his teammates, the German came a cropper.

In one such instance, Sane raced onto Thomas Muller's through ball in the 57th minute but fired wastefully wide from just 12 yards out.

The former Schalke and Manchester City star is running out of time to salvage his debut campaign with Bayern Munich.

#4 Ninth Bundesliga title within sight for Bayern Munich

If his exit rumors turn out to be true, Hansi Flick could bow out on a high.
If his exit rumors turn out to be true, Hansi Flick could bow out on a high.

Bayern Munich restored their seven-point lead over RB Leipzig at the top of the table after their victory over Wolfsburg. With only five games remaining in the season, the holders are within touching distance of another league title.

Hansi Flick's side have some potential banana skin clashes ahead of them against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach. Nevertheless, it appears unlikely they would relinquish such a healthy lead this late in the season.

With no Cup games to contend with,Bayern Munich can focus all their energy on Bundesliga. If it all goes according to plan, they'll be confirmed winners on the 8th of May, provided Leipzig do not slip up further.

#5 Wout Weghorst scores again - De Boer, are you watching?

Wout Weghorst (right) is massively underrated.
Wout Weghorst (right) is massively underrated.

He has been one of the finest attackers in Europe's top-five leagues this season. Yet Dutch manager Frank De Boer opted to leave Wout Weghorst out of his Netherlands squad last month.

The 28-year old is in the midst of his best season. With 19 goals, Weghorst is now only behind Erling Haaland (21), Andre Silva (23) and Robert Lewandowski (35) in the season's goal-scoring charts.

A striker with exceptional ability to hold up play and intimidate even the meanest defences, thanks to his hulking frame, Weghorst has been scoring goals at an imperious rate since arriving from Dutch side AZ in 2018. He's just not talked about enough.

He has scored 52 league goals in 94 games for Wolfsburg.

Even though the Oranje have Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum scoring most of the goals for them, Wout Weghorst could be another cog in De Boer's wheel at the upcoming Euros this summer. He just cannot be ignored anymore.
