Egypt:

Even he couldn't believe it
Even he couldn't believe it

Mohamed El-Shenawy - 9/10

The best player on the pitch for the Pharaohs, as he thwarted a right-footed shot from Suarez. He kept his side in the game by stopping a thunderous volley from Cavani, that was destined to land only at the back of the net. The same man beat him with a fine free-kick.

Not much he could do about the goal.

Ahmed Fathy - 7/10

A proud moment for the captain. While defending, he stood his ground, prevented crosses from coming in and defended well. Wasn't too clinical going forward though.

Ali Gabr - 7/10

He was alert and cautious throughout the game. Gabr was solid at the back, chipping in with blocks and a good number of tackles.

Ahmed Hegazi - 8/10

He was a silver lining in Egypt's dark cloud. Hegazi astutely predicted Uruguay's next move, didn't shy away from risking an injury while making heroic blocks, tackled well and inspired the rest of the defence.

Mohamed Shafy - 6/10

Not as good as his fellow defenders as the opposition had more bodies forward on the right. He gave a tough fight, as he sat deep, won the aerial duels and cleared his lines.

Mohamed Elneny - 6/10

Had the license to get forward into empty channels, orchestrate the play and find the less-likely breakthrough. Much to his despair, his creativity wasn't seen.

The Arsenal midfielder worked tirelessly and shielded the defence well.

Tarek Hamed - 6/10

Hamed was physical and technically sound while defending. He supported the centre-backs and added robustness to the back. Wasn't sharp enough though.

Amr Warda - 5/10

Couldn't cut through the opponent's back line and didn't receive the return pass from his wing back either. He didn't find an opening at all.

Abdullah El-Said - 4/10

Dropped way too deep, which killed the creativity in behind the striker. Also to add, he wasn't the most innovative player on the pitch either. Safe as houses with his passing, but that's not his role.

Trezeguet - 6/10

Looked lively for short periods of the game, offered a counter-attacking threat, but failed to provide the important pass.

Marwan Mohsen - 6/10

Brought in some strength and improved as the game went on, in terms of his hold-up play. However, he was too static and slow, which was scanned pretty well by a defender of Godin's class.

Substitutes:

Sam Morsy - 5/10

Much like his compatriots, supported the proceedings in midfield but wasn't incisive enough.

Kahraba - 5/10

The so-called 'electricity' couldn't quite add sparks to the game. He ran down the channels with little product. Didn't buy enough time for his wingers and midfielders either.

Ramadan Sobhi - NA

Came on in the dying stages of the game.
