Rumour: Xherdan Shaqiri to decide between Liverpool and new contract at Bayern Munich

Liverpool have seemingly stolen a charge on their rivals for the signature of Xherdan Shaqiri, who is now set to decide between joining Brendan Rodgers’s side or signing a new improved contract with his existing club, Bayern Munich.

Shaqiri has had a sensational World Cup for Switzerland, scoring three goals against Honduras to send the Swiss national side through to the knockout stages.Switzerland were ultimately eliminated by Argentina yesterday, losing 1-0 after Angel Di Maria scored a winner in extra time.

Liverpool are looking to improve their options ahead of the new season, given their new challenge in the form of the Champions League. Shaqiri is considered one of the hottest prospects in Europe, but has failed to impose himself on Bayern Munich’s first team in the time he’s spent at the Bundesliga champions. Liverpool have targeted the dynamic winger since the start of the summer as they seek to challenge for the title for the second year running.
