Xherdan Shaqiri’s impending move to Liverpool is on the rocks due to the current state of Bayern Munich’s midfield, according to journalist Jan Aage Fjoroft.

Shaqiri has been heavily linked with a switch to England and Liverpool have been huge favourites to land the highly-rated Swiss international. With his national side out of the World Cup, Shaqiri’s club future is now under the spotlight with many reports suggesting a deal in the region of £15 million would be complete soon.

However, Jan Aage Fjoroft believes that the deal is on the rocks due to injuries to Franck Ribery and the uncertain future of Toni Kroos.

Ribery missed this summers World Cup with France due to a serious injury prior to the tournament, while Toni Kroos could be on the way to Real Madrid after reports emerged that the Los Blancos were interested in bringing the midfield orchestrator to the Bernabeu.

With the problems evident in the Bavarians’ midfield, Shaqiri’s future may have to be put on hold.
