French football super star Zinedine Zidane has spoken about his choice of player to win the Ballon d’Or this year. He claimed that his countryman Franck Ribery should win the prestigious ahead of his pupil Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo.

He said, “They both deserve it. But I would give it to Franck because he was fundamental in the three trophies that Bayern won last season. The problem is there is a kid who has scored 55 goals in a season. Anyway, I do not decide.”

Ribery had a fantastic season last year leading Bayern Munich to Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Pokal titles completing a treble victory.

The Ballon d’Or list is headed by four-time winner Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored 213 goals in just 209 appearances, and Bayern’s Franck Ribery. Neymar also makes an entry into the toppers list after his good performance in the Confederations Cup for Brazil.
