With the amount hype and fanfare around Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival at Old Trafford, it is clear that the Manchester United fans will always have high expectations of the Swedish international, and he delivered in emphatic fashion in his very first appearance for the Red Devils. A mere four minutes into his Manchester United debut, Ibrahimovic scored a stunning goal against Galatasaray with an acrobatic scissor kick.

Just a few weeks earlier the 34-year-old posted a video on his Instagram page. In the video clip, Zlatan is shown juggling a football a few times before going on to strike the ball with a scissor kick. The strike shown in the video clip and the one that found the back of the net against Galatasaray are almost identical. The uncanny similarity between the two kicks has fans wondering whether the acrobatic goal was a planned move on Ibrahimovic’s part or if it was just a spur of the moment improvisation.

The veteran striker has won the domestic league title with every team he has played for up to this point in his career. He will be hoping to keep that extraordinary feat running with his new club. Manchester United have struggled to perform consistently at the expected level since the departure of their legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. However, fans and players alike believe that their new manager Jose Mourinho will be the man to curb the slide.

Zlatan came to Manchester United on a free transfer, after letting his contract with French champions Paris Saint-Germain run its course. Most United fans are ecstatic about their club’s dealings in the transfer window so far.

Since taking over at the club, Mourinho has made multiple high profile signings. Ibrahimovic arrived on a free transfer, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was lured to the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ from Borussia Dortmund and Eric Bailly also made the move to Manchester. The impending arrival of world record signing Paul Pogba from Juventus also has Red Devils supporters frothing at the mouth with anticipation.
