Zlatan Ibrahimovic has his say after receiving the ban

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has responded to the 4-match suspension given to him for a rant against referees following Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 loss to Bordeaux. He said that the ban just proved what he was trying to say all along, that “France is a s*** country”.

The ban imposed on Zlatan will see him miss four of the final seven Ligue 1 matches.

He wrote on his official application, “I was pleased as this proves what I have been saying. Now people can see for themselves, with their own eyes, instead of me just saying it.

“The whole situation has become a farce – it's ridiculous and unprofessional, a disgrace to football.”

“Would be happier if I was suspended for the rest of the season”

The 33-year-old was clearly upset and claimed that he would have been happier if the authorities had suspended him for the rest of the season so he could have begun his break already.

“I would have been even happier if they had suspended me for the rest of the season so I could have gone on holiday already,” he revealed.

The PSG striker, however, said that his words were not meant for the referee and he would have apologized if that was the case.

He continued, “There are no grounds for this ban. My words are not aimed at the referee. We had a normal conversation and he has confirmed this.

“If my words had been aimed at the ref I would have apologized when it happened.”

Unfortunately for Zlatan, he won’t be able to compete in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, due to another ban he received when he was harshly sent off against Chelsea in the previous round. The former Barcelona striker will, however, be able to return to Camp Nou for the return leg.

Fortunately for PSG, the striker’s ban will begin after their Coupe de la Ligue final against Bastia on Saturday. He can, then, make a return to league football on 9th May when Guingamp visit Parc des Princes.
