Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed that he does not need to add a Champions League trophy to his already bulging trophy cabinet in order to prove that he has had a great career. However, he has admitted laying hands on Europe’s most prestigious trophy is still one of his goals and he will try his best to do that with Les Parisiens this term.

The flamboyant striker has played for six of the biggest clubs in Europe and has won numerous accolades with them. His impressive list of trophies includes league titles in the Netherlands with Ajax, in Spain with Barcelona and in France with current team PSG. Ibra has also won Serie A titles with both the Milan clubs and Juventus, though, the titles with the Bianconeri were later revoked due to the Calciopoli scandal.
However, the Champions League has always eluded him and the 34-year-old has marked it as one of his goals. But the Swedish striker stressed on the fact that his career will still be considered great if he fails to win the much coveted European title.
“I have yet to win the Champions League and that is one of my goals,” Ibrahimovic said. “But my career will still have been great if I don't win it. My museum is already huge. I have had the chance to play alongside players who have won all kinds of trophies.”
“And I have won a lot of trophies myself as well. We will see if we can win the Champions League this campaign, but I am already satisfied with my career either way.”
PSG are not favourites against Chelsea: Ibrahimovic
The French champions will take on their English counterparts Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League round-of-16 for the second year running. Last season, PSG dramatically ousted the Londoners from the competition after Thiago Silva headed in a late equaliser deep in extra time which sent the Paris-based team into the quarter-final of the tournament on the basis of away goals.
The Swedish striker, however, had a bad outing personally, as he was sent off in the first half itself which prompted him to say that it felt like he had “11 babies” around him referring to the Chelsea players. Come February, he would certainly not want to have a similar outing individually.
The ex-Juventus striker said that though his team are not the favourites, he and his teammates were in better shape this season.
“We are not the favourites against Chelsea because we were at the same level in the past two seasons,” he added. “It will be two huge games. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will progress. I am really looking forward to the tie.
“We are in better shape than last year and I hope we will be able to show that.”
