Once the schematic/blueprint has been collected, players must then find the components required to build AMIE's robot body in Fortnite Chapter 4. Given the prevalent time period, finding certain components is a slightly difficult task. After all, it's not like players can raid an Imagined Order base to find this technology.

Nevertheless, there are some ways to find certain rare components such as Micro Chips, but it's not as easy as previous challenges. With that being said, here's how to complete the Damage Guardian Shields to collect dropped Micro Chips Oathbound challenge.

A step-by-step guide on how to damage Guardian Shields to collect dropped Micro Chips in Fortnite

Despite the existence of computers on the island, AMIE requires a certain type of Micro Chip, something that can only be found in Guardian Shields. On that note, it's somewhat odd that she can't reprogram or reprocess microchips from other technologically advanced items such as Falcon Scouts and Ex-Caliber Rifles.

Moving on, the first step of this challenge is to find a Guardian Shield. Given that this item can be found in chests (Rare/Oathbound), Supply Drops, and even as floor loot, it shouldn't be too hard to find. Bringing a friend along to complete this challenge will make it much easier.

Once a Guardian Shield has been obtained, players can either place it down and shoot at the Shield or have a teammate equip it to be shot at. Upon receiving some damage, the Guardian Shield will begin to drop Micro Chips. You simply have to pick them up to complete this challenge. Here's a recap of the process:

  • Find a Guardian Shield
  • Place it or have a teammate equip it
  • Shoot it to deal damage
  • Collect Micro Chips once they appear on the ground

Keep in mind that it's possible to complete this Fortnite challenge by having an enemy shooting at your Guardian Shield as well. However, the best option would be to shoot at the Guardian Shield in a safe area as opposed to an active combat zone. Once the task has been completed, players will be rewarded with 20,000 XP.

Is it worth using the Guardian Shield in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?

If this question had to be answered before January 31, 2023, the answer would have been no. However, ever since the Fortnite update v23.30 went live, the Guardian Shield has become one of the most powerful items in-game.

In addition to stopping bullets, rockets, and magical pulsating sword-bullets, the Guardian Shield is capable of absorbing the dreaded Deku's Smash and Kamehameha Mythic attacks. Although a large portion of the item's energy will be drained from absorbing these attacks, the wielder has a better chance of surviving.

It must be kept in mind that surviving any of these attacks using the Guardian Shield will depend on the angle of the attack. If the item is being used to block the attack from a viable angle, the user will be safe. However, if the attack comes from straight above or the rear, the Guardian Shield won't be useful.

Nevertheless, if players are vigilant, they can survive the two most powerful attack-types in Fortnite with ease. What's more, unlike Deku's Smash and Kamehameha, the Guardian Shield isn't limited to three charges. Since it's capable of recharging itself, players will only need to find one of these items to use for the entirety of a match.
