The Heavy Sniper Rifle is a beast of a long-range weapon in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. It deals 600 damage to vehicles and inflicts 120 damage to opponents when they are shot in the body. A direct headshot will cause 250 damage, which results in an elimination or a knockout depending on the game mode.

In one of the challenges for week two of the current season, players will have to deal a total of 500 damage to opponents using the Heavy Sniper Rifle. Given that this task is difficult, the total XP payout is 24,000.

Two ways to damage opponents with the Heavy Sniper Rifle in Fortnite

Although this challenge will be difficult, there are two ways that players will be able to go about it. Opponents can either be directly sniped and damaged or first knocked down using another weapon and then sniped with the Heavy Sniper Rifle.

For crack shots and players who are well-versed in the art of tracking and shooting moving targets, dealing direct damage is going to be the best option. Even if the opponent does not get eliminated, the damage inflicted will count towards the challenge's progression. That said, two headshots or five body shots will be needed to complete this challenge.

2) Knockdown and subsequently dealing damage using the Heavy Sniper Rifle

Rather than struggling and trying to shoot a target using the Heavy Sniper Rifle, the best alternative is to engage them using a different weapon.

Once the opponent has been knocked down, whip out the Heavy Sniper Rifle and shoot them at point-blank range. This will have to be done about five to six times to complete the challenge

Similar to other weapons that have been added/unvaulted this season, the Heavy Sniper Rifle can be found by searching chests. At times, they can even spawn as floor loot. That said, the chances of finding one of high rarity are low.

Alternatively, the Heavy Sniper Rifle can even be obtained by opening Holo-Chests. However, since the content of Holo-Chests rotates from one match to the next, there's no guarantee of running into one. Nevertheless, when found, it will be of high rarity.

Last but not least, the Heavy Sniper Rifle can also be bought from an NPC known as Stray. It will cost 500 gold bars, but that's not the true cost of obtaining the weapon in this manner.

Since the NPC is located in Mega City, players will have to be ready to engage opponents in combat as soon as they land.
