The Fortnite v22.40 update introduced quite a lot of content, but one of the biggest new additions has to be the Octane vehicle. Ahead of the end of both the season and chapter, Epic Games has added one of the best cars in the game's history.

The Octane is a vehicle that has special capabilities, which will cause everyone to want to get their hands on one. Currently, it also has a few challenges around it that can reward free cosmetics, so it's sure to be very popular.

One of the tasks is to fly continuously for 100 meters in it. While it's not a plane or chopper, this vehicle can "fly." Here's how to do it.

A guide to flying 100 meters in Fortnite's Octane

Step 1: Start a new Fortnite match

For this challenge, you will have to load up a new Fortnite match in either Zero Build or Battle Royale as the new vehicle is present in both modes. It cannot be found in Competitive, though, as it is considered to be too overpowered for ranked play.

Quite a few of the new Octane Quests are based in Creative mode, and there are a few fresh maps to try it out in as well. However, this particular challenge will need to be completed in standard match types.

Since this task doesn't specify anything that will require the presence of a teammate, it can be done in Solo, Duos, Trios or Squads mode.

Step 2: Locate an Octane

The new Octane vehicle can spawn in a few places, but it can most easily be found in major POIs, such as:

  • Cloudy Condos
  • Chonker's Speedway
  • Shiny Sound
  • Tainted Towers (formerly known as Tilted Towers)
  • Greasy Grove
  • Chromejam Junction

However, these are not the only places where you can get one. There are three others that are not present in major POIs. They can be found to the west of Greasy Grove, and to both the west and the east of the Herald's Sanctum.

It is recommended that you do two things when locating the Octane. First, you need to land there outright. Hoping the vehicle, which is in extremely high demand right now, will still be present later is not wise.

Second, you must get into the car and drive away immediately. Many players will be after it, so you need to get into it and away to safety as soon as possible.

Step 3: Drive to the nearest hill or mountain

This challenge needs to be completed from somewhere high off the ground. It can be a hill or a mountain, but you might need to build a very tall ramp if things don't work out.

Step 4: Jump and boost

At the edge of whatever tall thing you are on, press the jump button (will be denoted on the side of your screen) and boost forward off the ground. Continue boosting until you hit the ground to maximize the distance.

If you're high enough, you will "fly" for 100 meters. This is the only way to complete this particular challenge in Fortnite.
