After locating an unstable source of energy for the Rift Gate in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, Rift Warden Stellan is now asking players to channel the power safely. However, to do so, a new Alloy made of Kinetic Ore must be forged. This will allow his work to continue unimpeded.

After collecting the Kinetic Ore, players must take it to an Oathbound Forge to melt it down and give it shape. Once this is done, it has to be placed on the anvil and hammered into shape, which is where the How to refine the Alloy by hitting it with the Harvesting Tool challenge comes into play. Here's how you can complete this latest challenge.

To complete this challenge, players only need to do two things. They must first take the Alloy made of Kinetic Ore from the Oathbound Forge and place it on the anvil. Once in place, they have to hit it five times using their Harvesting Tool.

Given the three stages (placing the Alloy in the Forge Brazier, heating, and hitting it) of this Oathbound challenge can be completed in Faulty Splits or Breakwater Bay, players won't have to travel too far. On that note, here are all of the steps required to complete this phase of the Oathbound challenge:

  • Take the Alloy from the Forge Brazier at either Faulty Splits or Breakwater Bay
  • Place it on the anvil located within the respective POI
  • Hit it five times using the Harvesting Tool

Once the last step has been completed, players will earn 20,000 experience points for their hard work. After completing this challenge, they can move onto a new segment of the questline. On that note, there's something interesting to be noted.

Why does Rift Warden Stellan need a new source of power to open a Rift Gate?

Although 'Rifts' have been present in Fortnite for a long time, the majority of them were created and/or opened using the power of The Zero Point. This enigmatic source of energy is unlike anything else present in the Metaverse.

Both the Imagined Order and The Seven have used it at some point during in-game storylines in the past. However, with The Zero Point now buried beneath Hidden Henge on the island, it's nearly impossible to reach it. As a result, Rift Warden Stellan had to find an alternative means to power his Rift Gate.

Furthermore, since the theme of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is 'Medieval,' he may not possess the advanced technologies required to harness the power of The Zero Point. Given the time period, harnessing the stored energy of Kinetic Ore is the best option.

Nevertheless, with Rift Warden Stellan doing the bidding of the "Shapeless Man," the eerie presence of impending doom is rife in the air. As soon as the Rift Gate is online, a new dark chapter in the history of Fortnite will likely begin. Hopefully, reality will not come crumbling down once again.
