Chickens were introduced to Fortnite in Chapter 2 Season 6 and soon became a hit within the community. Once tamed, they let players fly through the air to reach places that are hard to get to and land from any height without taking fall damage. However, for the most part, they were used to outrun The Storm.

With Chapter 3 coming to an end and the fate of chickens being uncertain, Epic Games wants players to relive their glory days and travel while holding a chicken. Those who manage to complete the task will be rewarded with 20,000 experience points.

A step-by-step guide on how to travel while holding a chicken in Fortnite

1) Land east of Greasy Grove and secure gear

The first step towards completing this mission is to land in and around the eastern side of Greasy Grove. Although the location is not a hot-drop spot, a few opponents do land here. At least three to five opponents can be found here in any given match.

That said, it's best to avoid landing directly within the POI and instead aim for the surrounding area that's east of it. Although the loot will be limited, it should be enough for solo players during the early-game phase.

2) Find chickens at the eastern edge of the Reality biome near the river

Since this challenge involves traveling, tactfully completing it while gaining the benefits of moving or rotating is a sound way to go about things. Rather than grabbing a chicken and moving aimlessly, players should spend some time in the Reality biome and wait for the next safe zone to appear.

If there's a lot of time left for the next safe zone to form, the next best thing to do is to find a tactical location to rotate to. This can be done to find more loot or to move closer to the center of the map.

3) When ready to rotate to the next safe zone or move to a new POI, grab a chicken

Once you are ready to rotate or move to another POI, the next step is to grab a chicken. As always, it's best to approach them stealthily to avoid scaring them away. When you get close enough, make a dash for it by sprinting and grabbing one.

Remember to mark the intended location on the map to avoid having to look at it every now and then. This will prevent the need to stand in one place while searching for the POI and reduce the risk of getting picked off by a sniper.

4) Travel a total of 300 meters while holding the chicken

With a chicken in hand, the only thing left to do is travel 300 meters to any intended location or to the next safe zone. Despite chickens granting a speed and height boost, they aren't the fastest means of traveling.

That said, you should try to move from high ground to low ground when possible to maximize the travel distance. Since chickens mitigate fall damage, there's no need to worry about jumping from great heights. Once the 300 meter mark has been crossed, the challenge will be completed.
