New Fortnite Mythic SMG is a scam and viral explanation proves it

The weekly update for Fortnite this week brought a lot of new things to the game, including new items, map changes (including a lot of fun Halloween Easter eggs), and much more. The Halloween season is here, and the latest update certainly reflects that.

The update also introduced a new weapon, the Mythic Inkquisitor's Suppressed SMG. There are a few Mythic weapons available this season, but this is one that doesn't require tending to a Reality Sapling.

However, it appears that the Mythic weapon is not any good. One Fortnite player discovered that its stats do not reflect those of a Mythic gun.

Fortnite player discovers that Mythic Inkquisitor's SMG is overrated

Mythic is supposed to be the highest rarity for a gun. Exotic weapons exist, but they're usually unique and set apart from the normal weapon line. On the other hand, a Mythic version of a gun is supposed to be the best version of it.

However, one Twitter user discovered that this is not the case for the Mythic Inkquisitor's Suppressed SMG. The stats for the Legendary rarity and Mythic rarity of the weapon are identical.

Here are the stats for each of them, without a single discernible difference:

  • DPS- 187.2
  • Damage- 24
  • Fire rate- 7.8
  • Magazine size- 30
  • Reload time- 1.8

Based on this, the only difference is quite literally the color. There seems to be no real reason why anyone should go try and get the Mythic SMG, since it's far too dangerous to risk one's life for what amounts to a Legendary weapon.

Bosses are difficult to defeat, which is why they carry such good rewards. Unfortunately, that's not true for the Inkquisitor.

Here's how to get the Mythic Inkquisitor's Suppressed SMG anyway:

  1. Load into a Fortnite game.
  2. Start a match in any game mode.
  3. Fly to Grim Gables, which is near Shiny Sound.
  4. Land outside the house.
  5. Loot as much as possible.
  6. Find all healing items and bring them inside.
  7. Enter the house.
  8. Break the carpet and drop down a level.
  9. Break the wooden cover and drop down another level.
  10. Head to the center on the swirled lines and wait for them to glow red.
  11. Back up away from the lines.
  12. Begin fighting the Inkquisitor. You should stay alert, since he has fireflies and a Pumpkin Launcher.
  13. Defeat the Inkquisitor.
  14. Collect his loot, which includes the Mythic Inkquisitor's Suppressed SMG.

This issue is more than likely a glaring oversight by Epic Games, who probably did not intend to make the Legendary version the same as the Mythic. It could also be that the stats are incorrect. It doesn't make sense to add a Mythic weapon in the game without giving anyone any reason to try and collect it.

As a result, this will more than likely be remedied soon. A patch (or the next weekly update) will likely be released, and the Fortnite Mythic will be boosted or the rest of the versions will be nerfed.

At that point, it will be worthwhile to try and collect it again. For now, it's probably better to just find a Legendary Inkquisitor's Suppressed SMG or upgrade one to that rarity.
