The Fortnite downtime today (November 2, 2024) is scheduled to begin at 2 AM ET, with matchmaking being disabled at 1:30 AM ET. The downtime will end at 9 AM ET. This update (v32.00) will usher in the next phase of the storyline (Chapter 2 Remix), marking the end of Chapter 5 Season 4 Absolute Doom.
If you plan on playing until the servers are taken offline, FN Creative will be your safest bet. Exploring new LEGO Fortnite seeds is also an option. However, in light of this update marking the end of the current season, you could also play Battle Royale or Zero Build, as your scores and stats will be reset in a few hours. Essentially, there's nothing left to lose, so enjoy the game as you see fit until the new update is live.
If you have not reached level 200 yet, there is still some time to level up fast in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4. However, it is very unlikely you will reach your target if you need more than a couple of levels to reach your goal.
With all that in mind, here's more information on the Fortnite downtime today (November 2, 2024).

How long will the Fortnite downtime today (November 2, 2024) last?
As per the information provided by Epic Games, the downtime today (November 2, 2024) will last approximately seven hours, starting at 2 AM ET. This indicates you can jump back into Fortnite at 9 AM ET.
Since this is the transition from v31.41 to v32.00, the developers might need more time to get the servers up and running again. Furthermore, Epic Games has mentioned that the download size for the update will be larger in comparison to previous such releases.
Be sure to download the update when the option becomes available during the downtime. However, note that you will only be able to access it once the servers come online.
Content changes for Fortnite update v32.00
It is safe to say that Epic Games took the "Let Him Cook" meme literally as Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix is full to the brim with content. Eminem is back on the island, alongside Ice Spice and Snoop Dogg, as the featured artist for Fortnite Festival Season 6. Juice WRLD will also be immortalized in-game with his very own Outfit.
A new cosmetic type, Kicks, will be introduced to the Fortnite Item Shop on November 12, 2024. Items in this category will be compatible with 500 of the most popular Outfits initially, and 95% of all Outfits can be used with Kicks by Spring, 2025.
Aside from the cosmetics and collaborations, Fortnite Reload Solos will also be introduced. This means you will no longer have to rely on a teammate to help get you that elusive Victory Royale. However, Solos is going to be tougher for the uninitiated.
All this and much more will be added to the game after the FN downtime today (November 2, 2024) ends.
Keep in mind that the upcoming Music Pass associated with Fortnite Festival Season 6 can be completed outside of the mode itself. Once the update is live, XP will be shared between all modes and in-game passes. Battle Stars will also be removed at the start of Fortnite Chapter 6.
