The Support-A-Creator program in Fortnite has allowed countless individuals to earn money by creating content associated with the game. This includes content creators working within the Creative mode, leakers/data miners, and those creating social media content.

This tried and tested system has been in place for years, and for the most part, it works like a charm. All players must do is enter a Support-A-Creator code in the Item Shop, and the creator in question will receive 5% of the value of in-game purchases. This includes V-Bucks, and real-money offers as well.

However, with the upcoming Creator Economy 2.0 system, how creators earn revenue will change. They will no longer have to rely on their Support-A-Creator code as their primary means of income.

Engagement-based revenue will become the new norm for 'creators' in Fortnite

According to leakers/data miners, with Unreal Editor for Fortnite just beyond the horizon, Epic Games is making another major change in-game. After Creator Economy 2.0 is introduced, island creators will no longer have to depend on their "Support-A-Creator" device to earn revenue.

Based on the information on hand, island creators will be paid based on player engagement on their own maps. That said, this doesn't mean that the Support-A-Creator program will become null and void. The device will likely remain in-game as a secondary means of income.

For the time being, there's no information about the payment terms regarding this new revenue generation approach. Nevertheless, the system being put into place has the name: "Engagement Program Payout."

Much like the 5% creators earn via their SACs, this new Engagement Program Payout will likely have something similar. Creators must also provide Epic Games 'tax' and 'payout' information during the application process.

Other relevant information must also be provided, such as the individual's legal name, physical address, government identification, bank account, and routing number. Suffice it to say that the developers aim to make this system as foolproof as possible.

Certain creators will likely be offered access to the program before it's released. With Unreal Editor for Fortnite scheduled to launch on March 22, 2023, more information regarding Creator Economy 2.0 will hopefully be revealed.

When will Creator Economy 2.0 go live in Fortnite?

With UEFN going live in two days, Creator Economy 2.0 cannot be far behind. However, since leakers/data miners mentioned the word "soon," there's no timeline currently in place.

It could be released by the end of March 2023 or at the end of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, or perhaps even towards the end of the year. Epic Games will no doubt provide an update via a blog when everything is in place.

Creator Economy 2.0 is a huge step forward for the community, especially for island creators. Rather than hoping players will use their SAC code in-game, they can rely solely on traffic brought in via their Creative Maps to earn a steady payout.
