All good things must come to an end, and in just a short while, Fortnite's servers will go down for maintenance today (March 10, 2023). Fans are eagerly awaiting the start of the Neo-Tokyo (Mega) themed season of Chapter 4 Season 2, and with good reason.

The developers have pulled out all the 'neon' bells and whistles for the occasion. Rather than allowing data miners to leak everything during downtime, Epic Games has done the needful via teasers and artwork. Suffice to say, FortniteMega is going to be something spectacular.

As usual, there's no way to know for certain how long the 'official' downtime for Fortnite will last today. Since the developers have mentioned that the patch sizes will be larger than usual, things will likely take some time. Players should be able to hot-drop into Chapter 4 Season 2 at around 7 or 8 am Eastern Time on March 10, 2023.

While this sounds good, given it's a weekday for those in that time zone, many may not be able to play until early evening. However, since players in Asia will get the update by late afternoon and/or early evening (depending on their respective time zones, they'll be able to log in with ease.

New content and changes for Fortnite update v24.00

While the elephant in the room is a futuristic Japanese theme, there are other major content updates as well. Two of these will drastically change the game for the better in many ways.

The first of these changes is the new first-person mode. Players will now be able to switch their point-of-view (POV) from third-person to first-person. While there is some debate as to how they will be able to build with this new POV active, it will be interesting to experience nevertheless.

The second of these changes is the introduction of Creative 2.0/Unreal Engine for Fortnite (UEFN). With Unreal Engine 5.1 now in use, the addition of this powerful creative tool will give players the ability to create jaw-dropping custom experiences.

Apart from these major changes, there's some speculation that a new movement type will be introduced as well. Players will seemingly be able to wall-run in the game. Epic Games has been adding new movement mechanics to the game since the start of Chapter 3, but only time will tell if this rumor will come to fruition.

Epic Games has also recently released artwork that confirms the addition of a new vehicle type in the game. This vehicle appears to be bulkier and heavier than the previously released Trail Thrasher (dirt bike). While details about its features are still unknown, it is expected to have a boost feature.

Finally, as part of the futuristic Japanese theme, neon-themed points of interest (POIs) and landmarks will be added to the island. Many existing POIs will receive a makeover to match the new theme, and leaks suggest that all existing vehicles will also undergo changes.

Players can look forward to a new shotgun and katana, as well as a revamp of the loot pool with many more new weapons and items. One of the most eagerly anticipated additions is the Waist Grappler Mythic, which is inspired by the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear from Attack on Titan.

With all that said, this is just the beginning of the new content that FortniteMega - Chapter 4 Season 2 has in store. As the season progresses, players can expect more weapons, items, and assets to be added to the island. By the looks of it, this season is going to be one for the history books.
