The much-anticipated first-person mode in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 has been confirmed by veteran leakers who received the information from a reliable source. Players were able to use the first-person mode in the current season via an in-game glitch, which Epic Games eventually patched. However, the proof of concept was confirmed, and the mode did exist.

The only questions left unanswered were when exactly the first-person mode would be added to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, and if there would be a dedicated playlist associated with it.

As stated, while the first-person mode has indeed been confirmed for release next season, there's no timeline in place for the launch. Given that Epic Games usually adds new features/mechanics at the start of the season, it may get enabled as soon as the servers are up and running after downtime ends.

While this provides some insight into when players can expect the first-person mode to go live, there's still the question of how it will be implemented. Will the first-person mode have a separate playlist or will players be able to toggle it on and off as an in-game function?

Although the former option of having multiple playlists for both modes makes more sense, things will become confusing. To elaborate, there are already two dedicated playlists in Fortnite. One for the Build, and the other for Zero Build.

Adding a third and fourth playlist for Build with first-person and Zero Build with first-person will dilute things. There will no doubt be enough players to populate all four playlists at any given time, but it would be rather messy to have that many in-game.

An alternative to this would be to rotate the first-person playlists from time to time. However, this again comes with its own set of problems, as players will not have any say in the matter.

Thus, in all probability, Epic Games will allow players to toggle the first-person mode on and off as they please. While this may leave them at a disadvantage while building and rotating about the map, it would allow them the freedom to choose. This leads to an interesting question of how one could build in first-person mode.

Is it even possible to build in Fortnite's first-person mode?

Yes, it is possible, but it will not be easy. With the camera angle focused on a smaller area, the player's peripheral vision is drastically cut short. Because of this, they will not be able to see what's around them while building.

If other players have third-person mode toggled on, this will leave those in first-person mode at a huge disadvantage. By all accounts and logical observations, building in first-person will take a lot of practice, and even expert builders will take time to adjust to things.

With all that being said, it is still left to be seen what Epic Games has in mind. If nothing else, the community is excited to officially try out the first-person mode in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2.
