According to the latest Fortnite leaks, it would seem that the snow on the island is going to melt soon. Although Epic Games has yet to confirm any of this, the melting of snow has been a recurring theme throughout the game's history. Not long after Winterfest ends, the snow usually melts to either reveal new Named Locations/Landmarks or more greenery.

Thanks to in-game posters found at Train Stations, there is some pictorial representation as to which parts of the island will defrost. Suffice it to say, a large chunk of the snow biome could go missing after the update v28.10 goes live sometime next week or towards the end of the month. That being said, here is what players can expect to see in-game soon.

According to in-game posters and older Fortnite leaks pertaining to the Chapter 5 map, the snow will melt along the northern edge of the island. Named Locations such as Rebel's Roost and Lavish Lair will defrost. Landmarks such as Piney Pumps, The Other Windmill, Cloistered Castle, The Ol'Mill, and part of The Cemetery should be covered with lush greenery as well.

For the most part, this will be a superficial change only. The snow will be replaced with greenery, and perhaps more shrubs could be introduced. It should be easier to snipe as well once the snow disappears, as blending into the landscape will become a bit tougher. Consider using the Bushranger Outfit to camouflage better.

When will the snow melt in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1?

According to Fortnite leaks, all signs indicate that the snow should melt (be removed) by the end of January 2024. With the next update (v28.10) coming soon, the changes should appear in-game in a few days. This will also be the first update since Winterfest 2023 began.

As such, players can expect a bit of new content to be added in. Things such as Outfits, new weapons/items, and maybe more collaborations could be introduced. New challenges/quests could also be added to the files. However, given that this update will usher in the start of the mid-season, it's best not to expect a lot in terms of content.

Epic Games will keep things in reserve for the end stages of Chapter 5 Season 1. On that note, LEGO Fortnite may receive an update as well. According to Fortnite leaks, there is quite a bit of content that is in development: new items/weapons, Rift encounters, and a LEGO version of the Grabi-Tron from Chapter 2 Season 7.
