Will Fortnite creative 2.0 (UEFN) be available on consoles? Yes, the application will be available; however, it will only feature "limited" versions of the Creative 2.0/UEFN-tools.

This, by all means, indicates that the application will be limited in nature for players on all console devices (PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch). More information regarding this should be made available during the State of Unreal showcase later on today.

Why isn't Unreal Editor for Fortnite coming to console devices (just yet)?

It would seem that the application was developed focusing on it being used on PCs. While next-gen consoles are indeed powerful in their own right, there's no way to "upgrade" them to enhance performance.

PCs, on the other hand, can be upgraded easily by either replacing certain hardware or revamping the entire setup. This ensures that if the application doesn't run at the desired performance level, the user always has a way to "fix" the problem.

With consoles lacking true modular capability, users will not be able to overcome hardware-related limitations and bottlenecking if they should arrive. This rings true for software as well to an extent. PC users will also have more flexibility on this front.

That said, Creative 2.0 should eventually be coming to consoles, but at present, only limited Creative 2.0/UEFN-tools will be available. Twitter user FNBRCreate engaged in a conversation with Epic Games' CEO, Tim Sweeney, regarding the same.

According to Tim Sweeney, Verse (Epic Games' programming language) scripts are edited using UEFN on PC. This feature will only be brought to consoles in the future. A rough timeline of six months has been put in place.

In short, this means that only PC users will be able to take full advantage of the new Unreal Editor for Fortnite. However, players across all platforms will be able to experience and/or play on custom-made maps that utilize this new application.

While this is of little consolation to the hundreds, if not thousands of island-creators on console, it is a start nevertheless. UEFN is the next big thing in Fortnite and will revolutionize the game in many ways. According to leakers/data-miners, Creator Economy 2.0 is next up on the list of things to be implemented in-game.

When can console players expect to receive a fully fleshed-out version of Fortnite creative 2.0 (UEFN)?

As of now, there's no information regarding when creative 2.0 will be coming to console. For the time being, only limited Creative 2.0/UEFN-tools will be available once the application launches. Since it's centered around PC users, the final console port and/or version of it may take time to perfect.

Given that the Unreal Editor for Fortnite was pushed back several times, it can be assumed that a lot of work is left. This statement can be backed up and justified by the fact that UEFN will be launched at a beta stage. Even PC users will no doubt encounter minor bugs/glitches while using the application.

With all that said, a fully fleshed-out Unreal Editor for Fortnite on consoles will likely be available by the time Chapter 4 Season 4 starts. For the time being, users will have to grin and bear it.
