Hurdling was disabled in Fortnite a short while ago in Chapter 4 Season 1. Epic Games made this decision after it was discovered that players were being launched into the air at times while trying to hurdle over obstacles.

Depending on how they were launched into the air, players were either tossed back a few meters or sent flying into the stratosphere. Although a lucky few were able to stay alive thanks to the Aerialist Augment, most met their end.

At times, even with the Aerialist Augment, survival is not guaranteed if the player is tossed a few hundred meters into The Storm during the late game. In most cases, The Storm does the needful and eliminates them within seconds.

When will Hurdling be brought back to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?

Given the circumstances, it's impossible to answer this question. This is the second time this season that Hurdling has been disabled. The first time this mechanic got removed was on December 18, 2022, a few days after Chapter 4 kicked off.

As per Epic Games' statement, they managed to resolve the issue, and the mechanic was added back to the game on January 10, 2023, during Fortnite patch v23.10. However, barely a few hours later, players faced the same issue as the first time.

A few hours ago, on January 13, 2023, Hurdling was disabled once more. The developers notified the community via a tweet, adding that fixes are coming soon and that they will provide an update when the issue(s) is resolved.

With the Fortnite update v23.20 scheduled for January 17, 2023, it's unlikely that Epic Games will have sorted out the issue by then. Since this has occurred for the second time in the same season, the developers at the studio will have to go back to the drawing board to figure things out.

It's best to leave Hurdling disabled until and unless a proper and permanent fix can be issued. The last thing players want is to be 'griefed' and eliminated by a mechanic failing to perform as intended during gameplay.

In all probability, it will either be fixed by the time Fortnite update v23.30 is ready or re-implemented via a patch sometime after v23.20 goes live. It all depends on how swiftly Epic Games can find a fix for the problem. Hopefully, it won't take another month to get things right this time.

Can you still Mantle in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?

Yes, players can still mantle over taller obstacles in-game. This mechanic was added to the game in Chapter 3 and has been perfected over time.

However, some players are reporting issues with Mantling. At times, characters are unable to mantle properly. They tend to slip/slide off due to not being able to grip the edge of the surface properly.

Thankfully, this bug/glitch is minor in nature and hasn't affected the community to a large extent in recent times. However, it is still an issue. Epic Games will have to address this in a future update.
