Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga is easily one of the most graphically impressive games not only on Xbox but also on PC, which is genuinely impressive for a smaller studio like Ninja Theory. Much like PlayStation's cinematic behemoths like Naughty Dog's Uncharted series or Guerrilla Games' Horizon titles, Hellblade 2 is a visual showcase for the current-gen Xbox consoles.

As such, it's somewhat understandable why the game is capped at 30fps on consoles. However, on PC, there's no such framerate cap, and you can virtually get the game running at 4K 120fps, granted you do have the specs to back that performance.

Unfortunately, Hellblade 2 on PC, isn't as well-optimized as some of the recent PlayStation PC titles. However, you can get the game running at a rather stable framerate if you take a bit of time tinkering with the graphics settings. Here's a comprehensive optimization guide for Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga on PC including the best settings.

Best settings for Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga on PC

Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga makes full use of Unreal Engine 5, which means that the game might present some issues running on PCs, especially on low to mid-range configurations. Thankfully, Ninja Theory offers plenty of options to tweak that can help you get the game running at a stable framerate without compromising much on the visuals.

The biggest help the game gets in terms of fine-tuning its performance are DLSS, FSR, and Frame-generation support, which allows you to increase your framerate with minimal visual downgrade.

That being said, during my time with the game, I found a few settings that impacted performance the most - Post-Processing Quality, Shadow Quality, Texture Quality, Volumetrics, View Distance, and surprisingly, Foliage Detail (this is situational and only affects areas with dense foliage or scattered objects).

I played the game on a PC with the following configuration:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
  • GPU: RTX 4070
  • Memory: 16GB DDR4
  • Drive: Gen-4 NVMe

I used a mix of Medium and High settings in addition to DLAA and Frame-generation to get a steady 60fps at 1440p. Here are the settings I used:

  • Antialiasing: Medium
  • Post-Processing Quality: Medium
  • Effects Quality: High
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Reflection Quality: High
  • Global Illumination Quality: High
  • Volumetrics: Medium
  • Texture Quality: High (Use Medium for 8GB GPUs)
  • View Distance: Medium
  • Foliage Detail: High (You can turn it to Medium if you're running out of VRAM)

In addition to these settings, I highly recommend using DLSS or FSR, in the case of AMD GPUs, alongside Frame-generation to get a steady framerate. Being an Unreal Engine 5 title, Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga often dips below 30fps at native 1440p, especially on an 8GB GPU. Upscalers help even out the framerate with minimal visual downgrade.
