A brand new Nintendo Switch 2 leak is here to offer more technical details about the next-gen hybrid console. Mobapad, an official Nintendo Switch accessory manufacturer has shared new information, much of which lines up with past rumors that have been unearthed until now. This includes screen size, resolution, and memory type.

Given these new Nintendo Switch 2 leaks are from a legitimate source, they are likely credible; however, we can't be certain unless we see a teardown of the console hardware itself. While that is impossible at the moment, we can at least speculate what this means.

Note: This article is based on leaks. Users are advised to take the information herein with a grain of salt and await official confirmation.

New Nintendo Switch 2 leak suggests 1080p screen, 4K display when docked, and more are in the cards

The screen would be an 8-inch display, which has consistently popped up in past rumors. This makes it bigger than the Steam Deck's display not just in size but also in resolution. While fans were worried about Nintendo opting for 720p resolution again, it seems we will see a 1080p display instead. Again, this is a jump from Steam Deck's 800p screen.

For a 2025 device, 1080p is undoubtedly the bare minimum any buyer would expect. Although this factor may cause performance concerns among players when in handheld mode, the involvement of Nvidia's DLSS tech should logically follow up the conclusion that it will be used abundantly in handheld mode to lower rendering load.

According to the new Nintendo Switch 2 leak, the docked mode is said to support up to 4K resolution, also supported by DLSS. This brings us to more minute hardware features; for one, the dock itself will be similar to the existing model and support USB-C. The kickstand also returns on the device itself but is said to now feature a damping bracket for better stability when in tabletop mode.

Then there's the controllers themselves: the Joy-Con controller will follow the same core design. However, the back of each controller will apparently now have a couple of new triggers and an extra one below the Home button. The SL/SR buttons on the Joy-Con rails are now metallic and now attach magnetically to the device, which also lines up with the latest rumors.

Since the arrival of a magnetic track, it is obvious that current Joy-Con controllers will not be physically attachable. Wireless support for existing Pro controllers and Joy-Cons will allegedly be a thing. As per the new Nintendo Switch 2 leak, HD Rumble vibration returns (with ALPS dual-axis linear motor). Speaking of returning features, current Nintendo Switch cartridges will supposedly be usable on the new console.

However, the new Nintendo Switch carts will not be compatible with the original Nintendo Switch. This should suggest a change in physical cart design, such as a notch or ridge that prevents them from being tucked into the Nintendo Switch cartridge slot, but this wasn't touched upon. Paired with past leaks concerning Samsung's 5th-generation V-NAND flash memory for storage, expect fast speeds for asset streaming and loading.
