The full public release of iOS 26 is scheduled for fall 2025. This is likely around mid-September, aligning with Apple’s tradition of launching new iOS versions just before the latest iPhone models hit the market.

It is important to note that, unlike in previous years, the new iOS will not support older iPhone models, such as the iPhone XR and earlier devices. However, all iPhones released after the iPhone 11 will be eligible for the update.

What’s new in iOS 26?

The most notable change in iOS 26 is the introduction of the Liquid Glass design, which draws inspiration from Apple’s visionOS. This update also brings major upgrades to the Messages and Phone apps, including custom chat backgrounds, polls, and even typing indicators in conversations.

Apple Intelligence now features Live Translation during phone calls and text messages. Additionally, the all-new Apple Games app is a one-stop shop for all your gaming needs, providing notifications for updates and important events.
