What's the story?

Amid reports of a possible transfer from Arsenal, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been making the headlines of late. With rumours suggesting a possible move to Chelsea on the cards, speculation is rampant regarding the future of the talented winger.

It appears that FIFA Mobile too has acknowledged the rapid rise of Oxlade-Chamberlain as FUThead.com ratings now show the Englishman even ahead of the mercurial Argentine known that is Leo Messi.

The ratings show the two matched in the dribbling category at 108 but Oxlade-Chamberlain miles ahead in pace and even trumps Messi in the defence and physicality front.

In case you didn't know...

FIFA Mobile is one of the most popular versions of the FIFA series and the ratings always spring some noticeable surprises. With Oxlade-Chamberlain making all the headlines recently, his stock has surely risen and he now finds himself battling among the world's best footballers.

The heart of the matter

In the visibly varying list provided by FUThead, you can find that topping the charts in the dribbling category is one Luis Muriel. The former Sampdoria front man recently completed his move to Spanish side Sevilla in order to boost the team's aching strike force. His dribbling abilities have been well documented but it still comes as a relative surprise to see him top the lot in this particular attribute.

He trumps the likes of Hazard, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Messi and even Neymar to cement the numero uno spot. Other noticeable names in the top 10 include James Rodriguez, Naby Keita and Isco. Surprisingly enough, Cristiano Ronaldo is another noticeable absentee.

What's next?

FIFA Mobile may be the topic of discussion but FIFA 18 is what the world is talking about. The highly anticipated release of the annual EA Sports franchise is set for 29th September 2017 and is due as early as a month away. The game showcases Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover and will almost surely have a different set of ratings as compared to its Mobile counterpart. FIFA 18 will be available for purchase on Xbox One, PS 4 and PC.

Author's take

While the ratings may seem dubious on the face of it, FIFA Mobile is as legitimate as it gets and makes you consider how lethal these players actually are when playing to their strengths. If Chelsea manage to land Oxlade-Chamberlain, it may end up being an absolute masterstroke.
