This year, there are 4 teams taking part in this tournament, India, Syria, Tajikistan and North Korea. Each team will play three games and top two teams after, the group stage will qualify for the final, which will be held on 19th of July in Ahmedabad. Defending champions, India are said to be the title contenders this time around along with Syria.
In 2018, India were on top of the Intercontinental Cup Points table along with Kenya after the group stage. India beat Kenya 2-0 in the final to lift Hero Intercontinental Cup 2018. India beat Chinese Taipei and Kenya but lost to New Zealand in the group stage, Sunil Chhetri scored a hattrick against Chinese Taipei and scored a brace against Kenya, Chhetri also scored the only for India against New Zealand but De Jong and Dyer scored 1 goal each to seal the victory for New Zealand, in the group stage.
Sunil Chhetri scored twice Hero Intercontinental Cup Final, to make sure India win their first Intercontinental Cup in 2018. This year, India will again rely Sunil Chhetri and their new Croatian coach Igor Stimac.
