Bethpage Black might be months ahead from now, but Justin Rose recently celebrated a popular pro's arrival in Ryder Cup Team Europe. The PGA Tour pro hailed Rory McIlroy for getting officially selected to be on the team.

In the beginning of this year, the Northern Irishman won two PGA Tour events and became the sixth career Grand Slam winner. Although his 2025 U.S. Open outing was disappointing, McIlroy's past performances granted him entry as the first official Team Europe Ryder Cup member.

Ryder Cup Europe posted on X:

"Make that EIGHT consecutive Ryder Cups 😏 @McIlroyRory is the first #TeamEurope player confirmed for the 2025 Ryder Cup."

Justin Rose, who contested McIlroy earlier this year at Augusta over a sudden death playoff, reposted the post by Ryder Cup, hailing McIlroy's inclusion. Shortly after the tweet was shared, Rose wrote on his timeline:

"Strong first player in team @RyderCupEurope !!! 💙💛"

McIlroy currently leads Team Europe's Ryder Cup rankings with a staggering 3040.95 points, almost 2.5 times more than his nearest competitor Tyrrell Hatton. Justin Rose has made considerable attempts since becoming the 2025 Masters runner-up.

However, with one withdrawal and three missed cuts post-Augusta, Rose has fallen in the 2025 Ryder Cup rankings. The PGA Tour pro is currently ranked well beyond the top six players who will be automatically eligible for the prestigeous contest at Bethpage Black.

When Justin Rose praised Rory McIlroy after Augusta

Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose had a memorable ride in Augusta National Golf Club, earlier this year. Despite losing to the sudden death playoff match, the 11-time PGA Tour winner held his spirits high and openly praised the Northern Irishman.

At the press conference, Rose complemented McIlroy's playing style and his persona. Rose said (as quoted by ASAP Sports):

"He's captivating to watch. He's a great player.
"He plays with so much style and charisma and flair, I suppose. And you never quite know as well, because, you know, he's made a few mistakes under pressure. So people, you know, they want to kind of like keep watching."

Despite suffering from a near-miss that could have got him the green jacket, Rose did not lose respect for his Masters Tournament playoff opponent. The Major ended with the pros congratulating each other on their Masters' performance.
