McIlroy recently made waves due to repeatedly denying requests for media interactions at the ongoing 2025 US Open and it caught Michael Kim's attention. The American PGA Tour pro took a dig at McIlroy's behaviour through a social media comment on Sunday, June 15.

The 2025 US Open has seen a lot of stars showing frustration and outbursts following failed tee shots at Oakmont's challenging conditions. Amid all, McIlroy has made news with his club throw, tee marker smash, and staying away from media. Michael Kim's social media post on the Northern Irishman suggests a subtle criticism of the latter's attitude toward the press.

A fan recently drew a black-and-white picture of the five-time major winner's incredible feat at Augusta National this year. His r/golf subreddit post asked for opinions regarding the title of the painting. When NUCLR GOLF shared the picture on X (previously Twitter), Michael Kim replied with the title suggestion, taking a subliminal jab at Rory McIlroy.

"No more media!! It’s a joke everyone," Kim wrote in comments.

McIlroy's recent media snub came just weeks after the incident at Quail Hollow, where Rory went days without talking to reporters. A day before Michael Kim's jab, golf insider Brandel Chamblee also slammed McIlroy.

It's worth noting that this is not the first time Michael Kim has commented on an issue involving McIlroy.

When Michael Kim extended support for Rory McIlroy

After the Northern Irishman started facing uproar due to his non-conforming TaylorMade driver just before the 2025 PGA Championship, fans also started claiming that McIlroy allegedly cheated. The allegations grew louder as Rory refused to appear in front of the media during the tournament.

However, it was Michael Kim who raised his voice on this issue. The golfer replied to an X post by Bob Harig, where the latter reported on McIlroy's decline in accuracy following the driver switch. As per Harig, McIlroy only managed to find 10 fairways after playing 36 holes since his switch in driver.

Kim explained in detail how it's pretty normal for drivers to be worn out following daily wear and tear. The golfer replied, citing what happened to him at The American Express:

"We get our drivers tested randomly.. prob every month or so. I had my driver taken away at Amex and somewhere else… It’s about half a yard of difference but a line has to be drawn somewhere. I do test multiple heads afterwards to find a head that I like since they’re not all exactly the same."

Kim recently concluded his play at the 2025 U.S. Open in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. The professional golfer shot a 2-over par 72 in his final round, with 2 bogeys, 2 birdies and one double bogey. As of this writing, the one-time PGA Tour winner stands at T52 with a total score of 14-over par.
