Justin Thomas is not having a good week at Oakmont Country Club. The course is hosting the 2025 US Open, and it is regarded as one of the most difficult to play on. The course punished many golfers during round 1 of the tournament, and Thomas was no exception. He shot a double bogey on hole 12 in round 2, which has generated a lot of negative buzz.

Hole 12 is a par-5 course that stretches over 647 yards. In terms of difficulty, it is ranked 15th overall among all holes at Oakmont Country Club. Thomas took three strokes to reach the greens of the hole, and with a single stroke, he had a decent chance of finishing with a birdie. Unfortunately, it took him four shots to simply put the ball in, and as a result, he ended up with a double bogey.

The US Open highlighted this on their official X account with a post that read:

"Oakmont is relentless. Justin Thomas four-putts and makes a double bogey on the par-5 12th hole."

After this hole, things did not get any easier for Justin Thomas, as the Oakmont course continued to punish him. Despite making a birdie on hole 14, Thomas made a bogey on hole 15 and a double bogey on hole 16. As of this writing, he is five shots over par, which is definitely not good. He needs to make a strong recovery to make the cut in this tournament.
