Wyndham Clark made the news with an alleged incident at the Oakmont Country Club. The course has proven to be a difficult one to play on, leaving many golfers visibily frustrated with their performances. Clark was apparently one of those players, as he reportedly damaged some lockers in the change room.
Many fans have criticized him for this, while some others have defended his reported outburst. Fellow golfer Graeme McDowell responded to the story posted by NUCLR Golf on X.
Replying to the post on X, the LIV Golf player claimed that there are several golfers who have had similar outbursts. The post read:
"This is minimal regards what I’ve seen other players do. Players you would never expect. Oakmont will test any players mental fortitude. Seen it in person. Guess who? 2016."
Another LIV Golfer, Ian Poulter, shared his experience and wrote:
"I have inflicted severe locker destruction through the years at US Opens and paid my fines. Generally, they have been our temporary build lockers. Not members lockers. Not that that’s an excuse. Generally, it’s been when I’ve felt the USGA has pushed the limits over the edge 🤦🏼♂️"
According to speculation, Wyndham Clark will also face a fine for reportedly causing damage to the Oakmont Country Club's property.
How did Wyndham Clark perform at the 2025 US Open?

Things did not get much better for Wyndham Clark during his second round at Oakmont Country Club. He played the back nine holes first, making four bogeys - at holes 11, 12, 16, and 18. Clark also made two birdies at holes 14 and 17, finishing his back nine with a total score of two-over par.
Following that, Clark attempted the front nine holes, making three bogeys on holes 5, 7, and 9. He also birdied hole 6, bringing his total score for the second day to four-over par.
After two days, Clark was eight strokes over par and missed the weekend cut by one shot. This followed a T50 finish at the PGA Championship.
