The winners of the Hockey India League will take home a cheque of Rs. 2.5 crore

New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS)

The winners of the 2015 Hockey India League (HIL) will take home a cheque of Rs. 2.5 crore along with a glittering trophy, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs.1.25 crore. The team which finishes third will get Rs.75 lakh. When it comes to the individual awards, the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament will get Rs. 25 lakh, the Upcoming Player of the Tournament and Motivator of the Tournament Rs.20 lakh each and the Maximum Goals of the Tournament (team) will be awarded Rs.10 lakh.

"HIL has provided tremendous opportunity to budding players from across the world. The prize money is a token of recognition to motivate young talent. Hockey India (HI) is committed to promoting the sport amongst hockey lovers," HIL chairman Narinder Batra said.

"I am happy that the league is moving in the right direction to achieve our multiple objectives of providing a platform for training and recognition of hockey players."

Only three HIL pool matches are left with the semi-finals are final slated for the weekend, to be played at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here.
