Anantapur Sports Academy hosts hockey and judo coaching camp

Anantapur Sports Academy is hosting a hockey and judo coaching camp for upcoming district and state tournaments. While for hockey it is the Sub Junior Hockey Championship, for Judo it is the Junior State Championship, which is to be held in Vizag from 29th October to 2nd Nov’2015.

The hockey coaching camp was a four day coaching camp from 10th to 14th October 2015. Coach P.Lakshmi Narayana mainly focused on the physical fitness and agility of the athletes during the coaching camp. Other than that he also focused on the technical and tactical aspect of the game during his preparation for the upcoming tournament. He seemed very busy with the players and made them understand their roles and responsibilities which he thought will be instrumental for a good performance. At the final day of the coaching camp EF Xavier, Director of Sports, Anantapur Sports Academy was seen handing out jerseys to the Anantapur Sub-Junior Hockey team going to participate in the tournament.

The Judo coaching camp is being help from the 11th to 20th October, 2015. It has athletes from the U18 and U21 age group. A total of 12 athletes have been selected from the Anantapur Sports Academy which includes one boy from the U21 age group and the rest 11 athletes from the U18 age group. 32 athletes will be finally selected who will be representing Anantapur district in the championship.

He is making his athletes train under a strict schedule which includes warm ups, running and sprinting to start with followed by the different techniques like handlock, choking, gripping and a final fighting session to round off the training session.

The main reason of organizing the camp as coach Redappa says “is to prepare the athletes for the Junior State Championship and also make them capable of winning medals at the national level”.
