India produced a comprehensive display against Pakistan.

Firm favourites India continued their winning run in the 10th men's Asia Cup Hockey tournament on Sunday by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan 3-1 in a Pool A encounter.

Having already won their first two matches with ease against Japan (5-1) and hosts Bangladesh (7-0), the Indians had already secured their place in the next round. However, the match against Pakistan was expected to be a relatively tough contest.

From the very start of the match, though, India managed to gin control. In fact, the Men in Blue managed to control the proceedings for most of the match.

It was India who broke the deadlock in the 17th minute through Chinglesnsana Singh. They doubled their lead in the 44th minute through Ramandeep Singh and a minute later, Harmanpreet Singh scored the third..

However, in the final quarter Pakistan, who were trailing 0-3, came hard on the Indian defence in search of goals. Ali Shan managed to find the back of the net in the 49th minute but the Indian defence held firm to keep the score to 3-1.

Thus, India continued their recent domination over the neighbouring rivals, which includes consecutive wins in the Hockey World League Semi-Final in London earlier this year.

With three wins from three games, India finished on top of Pool A. Pakistan, meanwhile, secured the second spot with four points and qualified for the round-robin Super 4 stage of the tournament.

Twitter came alive after the match with several celebrities, among others, congratulating the Indian team on the superb win. Here are the best tweets in regard to the match:
