India drew their 5th match of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2-2 with Malaysia and finished last in the group with 4 points. After Faizal Saari’s first goal of the match, India came back and led 2-1 with goals from Mandeep Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh. With just over 1 minute left however, a controversial Penalty Stroke was awarded to Malaysia when a legitimate stop by Manpreet Singh was deemed as a foul by the umpires. Faizal Saari scored from the spot with a few seconds left as India were denied a chance to play for Bronze.
