Kabaddi is an indigenous sport of India which has transfigured many young talents of today to adapt it with cheerfulness and enthusiasm. Many youths of today promote their will to play and succeed in the bigger platforms to which Khelo India Youth Games prioritize on.
The young talented players get to showcase their talents once again as Kabaddi in Khelo India School Games 2019 is set to kick off from 14th January 2019 and the finals will take place on 18th January 2019 at the Badminton Hall, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune.
With the ambition of uplifting young talents from the grassroots level to provide them with career opportunities, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) with the Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi launched the Khelo India Games back in 2018 with 16 games in total.
The 1st edition of Kabaddi in Khelo India Youth Games held in IGI Stadium, Delhi saw Delhi U-17 team defeating Uttar Pradesh U-17 (35-30) in the boys' category whereas, in the girls' category, Himachal Pradesh U-17 team beat Delhi U-17 (25-19).
A total of 8 teams are divided into two groups in each category where each team will play 3 group stage matches. The top 2 teams from each group will play the semi-finals and eventually, the finals will be played between the winners of semi-finals.
Here is the weight categorization of all groups:
Boys U-21: 75kgs
Girls U-21: 70kgs
Boys U-17: 56kgs
Girls U-17: 56kgs
Both (boys and girls) teams of Under-17 and Under-21 category with each category having a total of 192 players each will participate for the gold medal. Here is the group-wise classification of both U-17 and U-21 category.
Boys (Group A): Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Maharashtra
Boys (Group B): Haryana Chattisgarh, Tamilnadu & Madhya Pradesh
Girls (Group A): Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar & Maharashtra
Girls (Group B): Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana & West Bengal
Boys (Group A): Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana & Chandigarh
Boys (Group B): Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Punjab & Kerela
Girls (Group A): Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamilnadu & Punjab
Girls (Group B): Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal & Andhra Pradesh
