Indian boxing sensation Neeraj Goyat, fresh off a spectacular win in Texas, made an enthusiastic appearance at the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 match between Haryana Steelers and Jaipur Pink Panthers on November 23 at the Noida Indoor Stadium.
During the pre-match press conference, Goyat spoke about his love for kabaddi, his favorite team, and the position he’d take on the mat if given a chance to play. The event also featured a special jersey exchange ceremony where Goyat joined Haryana Steelers captain Jaideep Dahiya and head coach Manpreet Singh.
Having recently dominated Brazilian opponent Whindersson Nunes in a six-round super-middleweight non-title bout, Goyat’s victory took center stage on the undercard of the much-anticipated Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight in a packed AT&T Stadium with 90,000 fans.
Goyat took time to show his support for the Haryana Steelers. Reflecting on his favorite team, he said:
"Haryana Steelers' commitment to kabaddi is commendable. This kind of dedication and discipline is what keeps the sport growing, and I am always there to support my favorite team."
When quizzed about his ideal role on the kabaddi mat, the boxer shared insights into his fighter's mindset.
"I would have been a defender, but one who's equally good at counter-attacks. Defense is crucial, but having a strong counter game is equally important," Goyat remarked.
The support of their celebrity fan seemed to inspire the Haryana Steelers as they delivered a stellar performance, defeating the Jaipur Pink Panthers 43-30 to solidify their position at the top of the PKL 11 standings.
