Patna started off Pro Kabaddi League Season 4 in an incredible fashion as they swept aside Puneri Paltans 30-24. With their second match, came their first-ever victory in the Maharashtra derby, as they won 36-34, in a nail-biting finish. They defeated Telugu Titans 35-33 in their third match and followed it up by beating the Bulls, 31-25.

Patna’s best performance of Season thus far came against an underperforming Bengal Warriors side. The Pirates crushed the Warriors 35-21 and looked invincible. Patna was fast turning out to be the team to beat when Dabang Delhi ended their 5-match winning streak with a thumping 33-15 victory.

The Pirates failed to come back in their next match, as they went down to Season 1 champions, Jaipur Pink Panthers.

The Pirates will look to avoid their 3rd defeat in a row, and would want to get back to winning ways. A win will take them to the top of the table, and further consolidate a place in the Top 4. Patna will take confidence from the fact that they’ve beaten the Bulls in their previous encounter, and they have the best raider of Season 4, in Pardeep Narwal, with 64 raid points in 7 matches.

The 19-year old was brilliant in Patna’s previous encounter against the Bulls, and would hope to repeat his heroics.

The defensive trio of Dharmaraj Cheralathan, Fazel Atrachali, and Bajirao Hodage will have a crucial role to play in today’s encounter against the likes of Rohit Kumar. Rajesh Mondal will look to come good in today’s match, after disappointing performances against Delhi and Jaipur.

Bengaluru Bulls started off their campaign with a close win over Bengal Warriors, 24-23. The Bulls followed it up with a dramatic 28-28 draw, against former champions, Jaipur Pink Panthers. They lost their third match a gritty Dabang Delhi side, 32-24. The Bulls followed up the defeat with two consecutive victories in close matches over the Puneri Paltans, 29-27, and Telugu Titans, 30-28.

After losing only one match in the first 5 matches of the season, Bulls went on a spree of 4 consecutive, since then. The series of defeats started against Patna Pirates, 31-25, and lost out in a thriller against U Mumba, 23-24. The Bulls have played two matches at home thus far and are yet to register a victory.

They lost their home matches to Telugu Titans, 24-32, and their Season 1 finale opponents, Jaipur Pink Panthers, 22-24.

The Bulls will face Patna Pirates today with only one objective: to win. The Bulls cannot settle for anything else as we reach the final stage of the group matches. They will have high expectations from Season 3’s MVP, Rohit Kumar, who has been nothing short of brilliant in this season’s Pro Kabaddi. Kumar will be up against his former team today, and would look to show the Pirates what they’re missing out on.

However, the Bulls over-reliance on Kumar can be dangerous, and other raiders need to support him. The Bengaluru defense has been solid throughout Season 4, thanks to Mohit Chillar and Surender Nada, but the cover defense looks shaky. Chillar and Nada have to come out on top against the likes of Pardeep Narwal, and Rajesh Mondal, if Bulls are to win today’s encounter.

The match promises to be a thrilling one, with the best defense of Pro Kabaddi going head-to-head against the best attack. Patna leads the head-to-head, 5-2, and with Bulls on a 4 match losing streak, the Pirates will hold the edge over the Bulls.
