Patna Pirates launched their campaign with 5 consecutive victories and were looking invincible, before going down to a determined Delhi side. The Pirates kicked off Season 4 with a 30-24 victory over the Puneri Paltans and followed it up with a nail-biting 36-34 win against today’s opposition, U Mumba.

In their third match, the Pirates prevailed over the Telugu Titans in a thrilling match, which ended 35-33. The Pirates swept aside Bengaluru Bulls in their next match. Pirates’ best performance came in their fifth match against Bengal Warriors, as they thrashed the out-of-sorts team, 35-21.

Their winning streak was ended by the most unlikely opposition in their sixth match, Dabang Delhi. Not only did Delhi end the streak, they crushed and rattled the entire Patna Pirates team, with a 33-15 victory. The Pirates could not recover from the humiliating defeat, as they went down 21-26, in their next match.

The Pirates were back to winning ways in their last match, as they swept aside Bengaluru Bulls by a huge margin of 15 points. The 38-23 victory will surely calm the nerves of the players and give them immense self-belief going into today’s match.

19-year old Pardeep Narwal continues to be Patna’s most valuable raider this season, and if he manages to keep up his performances, Narwal is poised to be the next big thing in the world of kabaddi. Rajesh Mondal hasn’t lived up to expectations, but will look to change that after today’s match. The defensive trio of Dharmaraj Cheralathan, Fazel Atrachali, and Bajirao Hodage will have an important role to play against a strong Mumbai side.

U Mumba has been impressive, too, in this season’s Pro Kabaddi League, and has been knocking on the doors of the top 4 for quite some time now. They started off their campaign with a tense 36-34 win over former champs, Jaipur Pink Panthers. Their worst performance came in their second match, as they lost the derby match to Puneri Paltans, 41-19. That was Puneri Paltan’s first ever victory over U Mumba in Pro Kabaddi.

They failed to get back to winning ways, as they went down to a solid Patna Pirates team, The Mumbai franchise put in strong performances in their next 2 matches, as they defeated Dabang Delhi, 27-25, and thrashed Bengal Warriors, 26-18.

U Mumba failed to keep up their winning momentum, as they went to Telugu Titans, 30-35. Their match against Bengaluru Bulls was a thrilling encounter, as Mumbai 24-23. In their most recent match, Mumbai put up a clinical performance and registered yet another victory against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, 29-23.

U Mumba will be reliant on Anup Kumar and Rakesh Kumar to come up with good performances. Rishank Devadiga has been a constant performer for U-Mumba this year, and we will need to be at the top of his game today if Mumbai is to win against the mighty Pirates.
