The Puneri Paltan (PUN) and the Bengal Warriorz (BEN) go head-to-head in the 73rd match of PKL 2024 on Sunday, November 24, at the Noida Indoor Stadium.
Both teams are winless in their last four outings, with the Paltan tying and losing two each, while the Warriorz are on four consecutive defeats coming into this one.
Both teams desperately need a win for different reasons. The Paltan have struggled to see games through since Aslam Inamdar's injury, suffering close defeats or ties due to a lack of raiding firepower and leadership. Meanwhile, the Warriorz's struggles in the raiding department have cost them dearly, and with only three wins in 11, it's high time they start winning games.
Let's now look at the top three Dream11 surprise picks.
#3 Pranay Rane (RAI) (BEN)
Pranay Rane stepped up in the raiding department for the Bengal Warriorz against the Telugu Titans, scoring nine raid points in their 29-31 defeat, and was the only raider who had some momentum in that match. With Maninder Singh out of form and Nitin Kumar struggling to manage as the lone lead raider, Pranay could be a handy Dream11 option.
He has made only four appearances this season, but his performance in the last match could see him get an extended run in the team. Raiders always have a high points ceiling, and Pranay could be a solid differential pick.
#2 V Ajith Kumar (RAI) (PUN)
Ajith Kumar was the Paltan's main buy at the PKL 11 auction as the defending champions signed the left-raider for ₹66 lakh, but he was surprisingly out of the reckoning for the first few matches. It's only after Aslam Inamdar's injury has he become one of their main raiders.
He has made only four appearances this season, mostly as a substitute, scoring only 13 raid points, but his PKL record speaks for itself. A PKL winner with the Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL 9, and having solid seasons with U Mumba and the Tamil Thalaivas in the past, Ajith is an explosive raider with plenty of point-scoring potential and could be a great Dream11 differential.
#1 Mohit Khaler (DEF) (PUN)
Replacing Aman in that left corner position for the Paltan, Mohit Khaler, who was a part of the Haryana Steelers last season, made a terrific debut against the UP Yoddhas, and was one of their best players in the 29-29 tie.
He was their best defender in that match, scoring four tackle points, and was assured with his ankle holds. His playing position suits this clash perfectly, going up against a right-raiding Bengal Warriorz, and a High 5 for him wouldn't be a surprise at all.
He would be a powerful Dream11 differential in this fixture.
