Kabaddi fans in India will have a lot to rejoice about this new years' eve as the Senior National Kabaddi Championships are set to commence on December 31 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, a senior player currently playing for the national team confirmed to Sportskeeda.

For a long time now, the championships have played host to some exquisite talents and have also served as a platform for young and budding players to make an impression on the big stage.

Inter-state rivalries

The structure of the championships follows one that will see battles between teams from the different states in India that could put the likes of Anup Kumar, Kashiling Adake and Rahul Chaudhari against each other.

While most fans would be accustomed to seeing the kabaddi bigwigs representing their respective franchises in the Pro Kabaddi League or don the Indian jersey, the national championships will pave as a way to see how much of an influence they will have on the youngsters.

The Mentor-Protege scenario

Considering the evolution of the ancient sport in the country, a lot of youngsters have taken to the sport and have also performed consistently which would have earned them a spot in the state team for this new version of the championships.

Given that these youngsters will share the same air as the experienced players from the national team and the Pro Kabaddi League, it could prove to be an ideal learning curve for them and would also help them hone their skills.

Draw for championships revealed?

Sources have also told Sportskeeda that the draw for the competition has been made and a clash between two major powerhouses -- Services and Uttar Prade is on the cards in the early stages.

This would mean a prospective clash between two of the best raiders in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League, Rahul Chaudhari and Pardeep Narwal, which promises to a battle to savour for fans.
