Telugu Titans paving the way for more Indian national kabaddi team players

From finishing a low 5th in the inaugural season of the Pro Kabaddi League to being table toppers this year, the Telegu Titans have indeed a come a long way. The franchisee coached by Udaya Kumar has exhibited how it’s not impossible for a team to excel in the tourney without major stars.

Emphasizing on the same, the gaffer said, “We have one India international (Rahul Chaudhuri) and we still have done so well, the boys deserve all the kudos for what they have achieved so far. In retrospect actually, I think the experience or rather the lack of it helped us; we grew closer as a unit and now tend to rely less on individual brilliance.

“As you would notice players like Deepak (Nivas Hudda) and Sukesh (Hegde) have made a mark already, it’s more like they have come of age with us. And that’s something we can proudly boast of; these boys were Titans first and international players later.”

Last night too, the team exhibited great spirit to hold the tenacious hosts at Delhi’s Thyagaraj Stadium. From what seemed a losing position before the buzzer raid, they held on and after a much disputed review, snatched a tie from the jaws of defeat.

Talking about the result, Kumar added, “We struggled as a defensive unit today; but our raiders made amends and eventually we are extremely glad to walk out of the mat with 3 points in our kitty.”

As he mentioned before the spirit and the teams demenour on-court was unmistakable. Their opponents would agree, for all that they have managed to do, none of the teams who have squared off against them would dare forget, ‘The night they played the Titans’.
